Porter Anderson ( @Porter_Anderson ) BA, MA, MFA, is a journalist, speaker, and consultant specializing in book publishing. Formerly with CNN, the Village Voice, the Dallas Times Herald, and other media, he is Editor-in-Chief of Publishing Perspectives, founded by the German Book Office New York, the magazine for the international publishing industry.
Anderson also has guided The FutureBook’s coverage of digital publishing for The Bookseller and led the development of its inaugural Author Day conference in London.
With Jane Friedman, he produces The Hot Sheet publishing-industry newsletter, providing expert analysis and interpretation in a private subscription bulletin format, expressly devised to give authors the news insights they need, free of agenda and bias. Anderson also writes the #MusicForWriters series on contemporary composers for Thought Catalog.
This year under the aegis of his Porter Anderson Media consultancy, Anderson will be speaking, covering and/or programming events at major publishing conferences and trade shows from the spring’s Digital Book World, London Book Fair, Publishers Forum in Berlin and BookExpo America in Chicago to the autumn’s Frankfurt Book Fair, Novelists Inc., Books in Browswers and The FutureBook 2016, along with other events.
As a producer, Anderson has held a diplomatic posting to Rome with the United Nations (P5, Level 7, laissez-passer), assigned to the international headquarters of the World Food Programme. He also has served as executive producer for Denmark’s INDEX: Design To Improve Life, under the patronage of HRH Frederik, in Copenhagen.
